After the Russians, the Catalans are mushroom-lovers par excellence.
The figure of the mushroom hunter has been an eternal cliché of Catalan country folk during the autumn.
Many dishes in Catalan cuisine are accompanied by mushrooms and others are even especially devoted to the mushroom as the main ingredient.
The Ou de reig (amanita caesarea), the rossinyol (Cantharellus cibarius), the rovelló (Lactarius sanguifluus) and the sureny (Boletus edulis), etc. are highly-prized by Catalan palates.
